I believe that understanding is the first step toward meaningful change. Whether I am meeting with a child, a teenager, an adult, or a family, my goal is to help people make sense of what they are experiencing and leave with greater clarity, practical strategies, and renewed confidence.<\/p>\n
My approach is warm, collaborative, and down to earth. I strive to create an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their concerns, and being themselves. While I take my work seriously, I don’t believe therapy always has to feel heavy. Humour, when appropriate, can help people feel at ease, build connection, and remind us that growth can occur alongside moments of laughter.<\/p>\n
Every individual has unique strengths, and I believe those strengths should form the foundation for growth. Rather than focusing solely on challenges, I work to understand the whole person and provide recommendations that are practical, individualized, and meaningful.<\/p>\n
I also believe that psychological assessments should do more than provide diagnoses. They should answer questions, explain why difficulties are occurring, and offer practical strategies that make everyday life easier at home, at school, at work, and in relationships.<\/p>\n
Background and Experience<\/h2>\n
I am a Registered Psychologist with more than 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a teacher, an experience that continues to influence the way I understand learning, development, and behaviour. It also allows me to bridge the gap between assessment findings and the realities of classrooms and educational systems.<\/p>\n
Throughout my career, I have worked in schools, community agencies, and private practice, providing therapy, consultation, and comprehensive psychoeducational assessments. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, ADHD, learning differences, emotional regulation challenges, parenting concerns, life transitions, and a variety of other personal and family difficulties.<\/p>\n
A significant part of my practice involves comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. My reports are designed to be thorough, understandable, and practical, providing clear explanations and recommendations that help families, schools, physicians, and post-secondary institutions understand not only what is happening, but why and what to do next.<\/p>\n
I am registered as a psychologist in both Alberta and British Columbia and am pleased to be expanding psychoeducational assessment services into British Columbia, including the Kootenay region.<\/p>\n
A Little About Me<\/h2>\n
I grew up on a farm in rural Alberta, where my love of animals, nature, and the outdoors first began. After completing my undergraduate degree and beginning my teaching career in Saskatchewan, I moved to Calgary in 1994, where I have lived and worked ever since.<\/p>\n
Outside of work, you’ll most often find me exploring the outdoors with my dog, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, or planning my next adventure. I have a lifelong love of animals and secretly hope that one day I’ll have a small hobby farm filled with miniature animals, because I firmly believe everything is cuter in miniature.<\/p>\n
I also enjoy learning, solving problems, and taking on projects, whether that means researching the latest developments in psychology, helping families navigate complex situations, or finding creative solutions to everyday challenges. Those same interests are what continue to make this profession so rewarding after more than two decades.<\/p>\n
It is a privilege to walk alongside people during some of life’s most challenging moments. Whether you are seeking therapy, looking for answers through an assessment, or simply wondering what your next step should be, my hope is that you will leave feeling understood, supported, and empowered to move forward.<\/p>\n
