A Little About Me
I am a Registered Psychologist at Discovery Psychological Services in Calgary, Alberta, and I hold a Master of Science in School and Applied Psychology from the University of Calgary. My practice centres on both assessment and therapy for children, teens, and adults, including supporting those with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, perfectionistic tendencies, body image concerns, and emotion regulation difficulties.
Psychology has been a passion of mine since I was young. What drew me to this work is a desire to help guide people through difficult situations, whether that means helping them understand how they think and learn, or supporting them to build healthy coping strategies.
I offer psychoeducational (learning disorders and giftedness), ADHD, mental health, and ASD assessments. For me, the purpose of an assessment is to help facilitate better understanding and provide practical recommendations, whether or not a diagnosis is provided. My aim is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable voicing their concerns. Psychoeducational, ADHD, and mental health assessments may include cognitive and academic testing, clinical interviews with parents, and questionnaires completed by teachers, parents, and the child (where appropriate). Specialized ASD assessments also include administration of the ADOS-2 and the ADI-R.
In therapy, I take a collaborative, supportive approach and work to create a relaxed space where you or your child can feel comfortable sharing what is on your mind. I draw on mindfulness, art-based techniques, humour, and play-based strategies where they fit, and I involve parents in the work with children and teens. Sport has been a big part of my life, which gives me a firsthand understanding of the pressure that athletes and their families can feel.
I work closely with my colleague Bobbi Jo Gaetz, R.Psych., and we consult and refer between each other as needed to ensure you are supported by the right person.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me spending time outdoors with my family, friends, and my sheltie, Jasper. I am also a triathlete and a nature enthusiast, so much of my training and free time happens outside.
